Cheshire based Osteopaths Martin Davies and Associates, has been recognised with an award for excellent customer service at their stockport branch by healthcare search engine WhatClinic.com, based on feedback by customers over a twelve month period.

The award is based on feedback from patients, and combines scores for excellent customer service and timely consumer feedback. Customers rated clinics based on how well the clinic treated them, how quickly they were contacted and seen, and how happy they were with the treatment.

Martin Davies the principle at the surgeries who last year celebrated 30 years at the practices said, “We are delighted to be recognised for our commitment to customer service. As a practice, it is something we focus on in everything we do and to receive such positive feedback from our patients is great…”
WhatClinic.com CEO Caelen King congratulated Martin Davies Osteopaths and said “This is the 7th year we have run these awards. Every year, the standard goes up and up – and I’m delighted to recognise those clinics that are putting the needs of the patient first, every single day.

“It’s the customer who selects our awards winners, by their clinic ratings and the feedback they leave about service and experience. We believe that empowering the patient with accurate information is the future of a successful healthcare market.”

Collision In Stockport!

Posted on: October 22nd, 2014

On Monday we heard a loud bang in the early afternoon outside our hazel grove osteopathic practice in Stockport. On investigating it appeared there had been a multivehicle crash outside! It took emergency services a long time to sort out the accident and our prayers and best wishes go to those who were involved in this horrific collision.collision in hg

Thinking outside of the box!

Posted on: October 22nd, 2014
What was in the box?

It is a state of the art Thor laser to help all of our patients and to return them quickly to health! These lasers cost £1000's of pounds and this represents a considerable investment to help our patients at no extra cost to the patient. They have been shown to help most muscular, joint and even arthritic conditions and now our practices in Stockport, Nantwich, Crewe and Alsager Stoke-on-Trent can benefit from the latest technology to help them return to fitness quickly!

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissues and helps speed up the healing process. It can be used on patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions in order to help get rid of pain, swelling, reduce muscular spasms and increase flexibility!
The type of laser we use has recently been in the news as it has helped to GROW A TOOTH!

How do low level Lasers Work?

lasers are devices used by some Osteopaths that are placed directly over the injured area for 20 seconds to several minutes, depending on the problem, condition and size of the area being treated and the dose provided by the laser unit.

During this time photons or particles of light are emitted from the laser and pass through the body to the required depth to the area being treated. This laser light has the ability to penetrate 2 to 6 cm to therefore treat most joint and muscular conditions.

Once the light energy passes through the Body and reaches the area to be treated, it is taken in by specific components of the cells and interacts with the light sensitive elements Or mitochondria.

Mitochondria are like an energy producing power station component of the cell and the light energy is used to heal the cell more quickly leading to a reduction in pain, inflammation and swelling!
There is evidence to show this can half the healing time!

In other words our patients could get better twice as quickly from many conditions!

Another reason to chose to visit our surgeries apart from our 9 experienced Osteopaths and 2 physiotherapists.

Equine Osteopathy. Osteopathic treatment for Horses.

Posted on: April 6th, 2014

Equine Osteopathyhorse1 (3)

Just like people, horses and ponies can experience trauma and mechanical strain of their soft tissues and joints which may lead to pain and / or compensatory movement patterns affecting how the horse moves and his ability to carry the rider or perform at a particular level competitively.

Osteopaths use their hands to determine areas of musculoskeletal dysfunction and consider this in the context of predisposing and maintaining factors that may have contributed to a horses’ particular complaint.

Signs that your horse may be suffering from musculoskeletal discomfort include:

Stiffness on one particular rein

Continually striking off on the wrong leg

Inability to flex the back or neck fully

Reduced competition performance

Behavioural / temperament changes

Veterinary permission is required by law before the consultation, which involves taking a detailed case history about your horse to determine any relevant medical history, trauma, behaviour changes as well as ascertaining the general health and fitness of your horse.

The horse is then examined standing and also performing active movements in walk and trot to determine any areas that are not functioning well.

If I have any concerns that your horses discomfort is not of a musculoskeletal nature or is very complex in nature I will suggest referral to your veterinary for investigation.

Osteopathic treatment on horses is performed without sedation, is gentle and is aimed at improving joint mobility, decreasing muscle tension / muscle spasm as well as promoting efficient circulation, fluid exchange and the removal of metabolic wastes from areas of damaged or dysfunctional tissue.

Osteopaths often appear to treat areas of the animal that may appear distant to the site of discomfort; this is because Osteopaths have a deep understanding of the functioning of the nervous system, the bones, muscles and joints and how they all relate to each other.

Gill has studied Equine Osteopathy at post graduate level and treats horses and ponies across Cheshire and Staffordshire.
