Osteopathy: Do GPs recommend it?

Many G.P.s recommend patients to our surgeries. We are in fact one of the few practices in the UK that takes National Health patients referred by their G.P.

In fact many GP’s have osteopathic treatment with us themselves.

Dr. Hilary Jones (GP & GMTV’s Resident Health & Medical Advisor, GMTV), had the following to say about Osteopathic treatment: “I wish there was an Osteopath in every GP Surgery! The conventional medical fraternity are very poor at diagnosing back pain and sorting it out. We don’t assess properly, we just say rest up and give it 6 weeks, when actually rest is the last thing you should do. You should be strengthening those weak muscles as the muscles support the spine and ease the pain. Where painkillers have side effects, osteopathic treatment doesn’t!”

It isn’t necessary to consult your G.P. before you visit your osteopath.
